You will need:
Spray Paint
Masking Tape
Small Screwdriver or Tweezers
Start by removing the fan from the heatsink by unscrewing the four screws. You don't need to remove the heatsink from on your processor when doing this, but I have for illustration reasons.

Here's the fan once it has been removed from the heatsink.

Turn the fan upside down and peel back the cover sticker, there may also be a plastic cap you have to remove.

Use a small screwdriver or a pair of tweezers to remove the thin white plastic washer (split nylon washer) and a black rubber one.

Once you've removed the washers give the fan blade a tug and it should come away from the motor. Now peel away any stickers on the blade and wipe away any glue to allow for the spray paint to stick.

Cover the under side of the fan with masking tape making sure no paint can get into the back of the fan blade. Now place the blade onto a sheet of newspaper and proceed with spraying. I used Yellow Glow fast dry enamel by 'Plasti-Kote' this should make the fan stand out when I install my cathode.

Look at that, its amazing what a few coats of paint can do. Bearing in mind that it takes 24 hours for each coat to completely dry. Personally I think you shouldn't use a light colour as it makes the painting harder. Colours such as silver seem to work the best.

Look at the fan in action!
